What is Seasonal Wellbeing

Seasonal wellbeing refers to the concept of adapting and aligning one's lifestyle, activities and self-care practices with the changing seasons throughout the year. It recognizes that our physical, mental and emotional needs can vary depending on the time of year and the natural rhythms of nature.

Seasonal wellbeing involves recognizing and honoring the unique characteristics and challenges of each season and making intentional choices to support our overall health and wellbeing during that particular time. It can include adjusting our habits, routines or self-care practices to better align with the specific needs and energy of the season.

For example, in winter, seasonal wellbeing may involve focusing on activities that promote coziness, rest and going inside/focusing on yourself. It may include practices such as sleeping enough, nurturing our immune system and engaging in activities that bring comfort and joy during the colder months.

In spring, seasonal wellbeing may involve embracing the sense of renewal and growth, engaging in outdoor activities and incorporating fresh, seasonal produce into our diet. It may also involve decluttering our physical and mental space, setting new goals, and nurturing our mental and emotional wellbeing as nature blossoms around us.

During summer, seasonal wellbeing is complete relaxation including finding ways to stay cool and manage energy levels during the hotter months. Staying hydrated, protecting our skin from the sun and enjoying outdoor activities and water and beach.

In autumn, seasonal wellbeing may involve embracing change and transition, practicing gratitude for the harvest season and focusing on self-care practices that promote grounding, balance, and emotional well-being.

By recognizing the unique qualities of each season and making conscious choices to align with them, seasonal wellbeing encourages us to live in harmony with nature's rhythms and to take care of ourselves in ways that are in tune with the natural cycles of the year. It reminds us to listen to our bodies, adapt our self-care practices, and find balance and nourishment in each season.
