Why you’ll love it...
With over three decades of expertise, this is one of the world’s first Ayurvedic resorts—an ideal choice for anyone seeking authentic and traditional Ayurveda. Nestled in Kerala, the birthplace of Ayurveda in South India, the resort sits along the wide sandy beach of Kovalam, surrounded by a lush tropical garden. It’s a tranquil and beautiful place for relaxation and healing. This resort is part of the renowned Somatheeram Group, a trailblazer in Ayurvedic medicine, recognized globally with multiple awards, including being named the world’s best Ayurvedic resort. It also features its own Ayurveda academy. The Somatheeram Group encompasses Somatheeram Ayurveda Village, Soma Manaltheeram, and Ayursoma. While all three resorts offer similar experiences, each has its own unique ambiance and style.
Wellness, Spa and Health
The Ayurveda center is home to a highly skilled team of experienced Ayurvedic doctors, therapists, and chefs. It provides a diverse range of treatments and programs, such as Panchakarma, Abhyanga, and Shirodhara. Every stay begins with a consultation where a doctor identifies your dosha and designs a tailored treatment plan. You’ll be guided by the doctor throughout your program, and a dedicated therapist or masseur typically provides your treatments for the entire duration of your stay. In addition to the core treatments, programs include yoga, meditation, cooking classes, personalized dietary advice, and Ayurvedic herbal supplements. Most of these supplements are produced by the Somatheeram Group, growing over 2,000 herbs in their gardens and nearby forests. As a pioneer in Ayurvedic medicine, the Somatheeram Group has earned numerous international accolades, including being named the world’s best Ayurvedic resort. The group also runs an Ayurveda academy. The center itself offers 24 treatment rooms, 2 yoga halls, a beauty salon, a dental clinic, and a herbal supplement shop.

We love
- The walk between the beach and your cottage is a serene journey, weaving through a zigzag path lined with plant pots filled with aromatic herbs—simply gorgeous!
- Adding to the authenticity, the herbal oils used in the Ayurveda treatments are crafted in-house by the hotel, ensuring the highest quality and freshness.
- Guiding you throughout your Ayurvedic journey is a dedicated team of experienced Ayurvedic doctors and skilled therapists, providing personalized care and expertise to enhance your experience.
Good to know
- The monsoon season, from June to September, is considered an ideal time for an Ayurveda retreat, as the climate enhances the effectiveness of the treatments.
- For guests planning excursions, we recommend staying for more than a week. During the initial week, your body requires time to adapt and rest, and excursions may disrupt this adjustment period.
- While the hotel does not have a private beach, a small section is reserved exclusively for guests. However, you may occasionally see locals passing by in the area.
- For accommodations, we also offer Standard rooms. Though they are smaller and have less natural light, they provide a comfortable option for your stay.
