Why is Portugal considered one of the most interesting wellness destinations in Europe?
Portugal has a long coastline (832 kilometres), picturesque villages, plenty of nature and a climate that makes it suitable almost year-round. But what matters just as much for many guests is the atmosphere and the people. Portuguese hospitality is genuine, warm and easy-going. You feel welcome quickly, and that makes a difference. Along the west coast you will find boutique retreats with (kite)surfing and yoga. In the Algarve there are adults-only hotels with a focus on health and recovery, as well as a wellness hotel by the sea with thalasso facilities and a small-scale yoga and watersports retreat. Madeira adds something extra. A boutique hotel specialising in ayurveda and panchakarma. And an adults-only hotel with a daily programme of group classes and outdoor activities.
And not to forget: within less than three hours, you arrive in a place that feels noticeably different from home. That helps. Just enough to allow your body and mind to slow down.
