Where you are going...
Amatara is located in Cape Panwa, a hidden bay in a quiet part of Phuket. From the resort, you can enjoy impressive views of the turquoise Andaman Sea and have direct access to the pearly white beach. Phuket city centre is a 30-minute car drive; the international airport is a 60 minute-drive.
Why you’ll love it...
Supervision from wellness experts, healthy organic food and a varied offering of fitness and spa treatments make Amatara the perfect place for wellness and relaxation. The resort offers a number of programmes, such as detox, weight loss, anti-stress, fitness and yoga.
Wellness, Spa and Health
Amatara’s philosophy is to enhance happiness and wellbeing by balancing the body and mind through a combination of fitness activities, healthy meals and spa treatments. The programmes are effective and well thought out. The professional team will help you achieve your personal goal; whether it is to loose weight, detox or recharge. The service is very individualised. Amatara is a perfect place to work on your wellness. The spa has eight treatment rooms with sea views, a Thai hammam (the first in Thailand!), steam room, infrared sauna and yoga pavilion. The spa menu offers an extensive choice of holistic spa treatments and traditional Ayurveda treatments.
Holistic Activities and Sports
There is a state-of-the-art fitness centre with weights and cardio equipment and a 55-metre infinity pool, which boasts views of the Andaman Sea. A range of weekly fitness activities are on offer, including Pilates, yoga (hatha, kundalini, vinyasa), Thai Chi and meditation. Private personal training sessions are also available (for a fee). There is a tennis court on-site at the resort. Outdoor pursuit activities are on offer in the local vicinity, as well as diving. A golf course is close by.
What’s on the Menu
Healthy food is a key tenet of Amatara’s philosophy. All meals are prepared with organic produce. If you are following a detox or weight loss programme, your meals will be custom-made for you. You will also have the option to spend three days on a juice cleanse (with a minimum 7-night stay). There are numerous eateries – so plenty of choice! The restaurant 'Senses' serves health Asian fusion meals, including salads, smoothies and broths. Restaurant 'Scene' serves delicious, fresh fish and seafood, as well as a selection of international dishes. A third restaurant 'Siri' offers local Thai dishes throughout the day. Drinks and light snacks are available all day long from the library and the poolside and beach terraces.
We love
- Be sure to try the ‘jetlag juice’ containing energy-boosting ingredients that will reduce symptoms of fatigue following your lengthy flight.
- Take a boat trip around the Phang Nga Bay. It was here that the James Bond film ‘Man with the Golden Gun’ was filmed. And it isn’t difficult to see why.
- The Thai cooking lessons are a must! You even get to take the ingredients home with you so that you can cook the dish again when you’re home.
Good to know
Phuket has a tropical climate, enabling you to stay here comfortably throughout the year. Between November and March, there is a refreshing breeze, which makes this the best time to visit.
