Annette Vriends was trekking in Nepal's mountains when the powerful earthquake struck in April 2015. "We were caught in a rockslide. My guide didn't survive, and I sustained severe injuries. A porter rescued me, and after two days of waiting, a helicopter airlifted me to Kathmandu. Following multiple surgeries and a skin graft, my wounds miraculously healed. However, a few months later, my emotions began to overwhelm me. Friends suggested I visit Kamalaya. The PureandCure team handled the booking and assisted with flight arrangements. Additionally, they provided an extra credit voucher for additional treatments.

Healing process

The initial days were quite tough; I felt somewhat adrift and downhearted. The staff and therapists were incredibly caring and supportive. Yet,I couldn't fully connect with my emotions or find genuine enjoyment - which is a natural part of coping with a significant trauma. Nevertheless, the journey held great significance for me, prompting a return visit a year later. Dr. Song, an acupuncture doctor, and coach Rajesh played a crucial role in my healing process, offering new perspectives. The life coaches, drawing from their spiritual backgrounds as monks, approach life's challenges in a unique way compared to psychologists in the Netherlands. It's a spiritually enriching place, yet the guidance provided is practical and grounded, devoid of any fluff. I've found immense value in both visits, and I'm planning to return in September.

Kamalaya's secret

"Kamalaya Wellness Sanctuary stands out as an exceptional retreat. The staff offers top-notch service, and the cuisine is just from a different planet, so delicious. The environment encourages meaningful connections with others, yet being on your own is also easy if you wish. It goes beyond a typical luxury wellness and spa hotel; there's a profound depth to it. The vision and approach of founders John and Karina Stewart add an extra layer of uniqueness. Importantly, it caters not only to healing but also to reduce stress, detox body and mind or sport activities.
